Fairy Fun Fridays week 8 - colour challenge

Here's my DT card for Fairy Fun Fridays which is a colour challenge this week (inspired by the olympic colours). I'm late with my card because I've got a bit of a tummy bug and am not feeling the best! Apologies for being a very bad blogger at the moment, I underestimated how long it would take to re-arrange and sort everything in my craft room and now I'm feeling poorly. I really appreciate everyone taking the time to leave me comments though and will pop into your blogs as soon as I can!

I've used a really gorgeous new image from Prairie Fairy available here. I've coloured it with promarkers and only just realised when I went to find the link for the image, that I've coloured things slightly wrong! Some of the area under the little boy's feet should have been water, and what I assumed was a spade handle is actually a stick... can I blame being poorly? I think it could have done with some sky too, but never mind I'll do that next time! The papers are a Sweet Shoppe Designs download, sentiment from Craftwork Cards, button & gingham ribbon from my stash and used the MS zigzag punch for the edges. For once I've not followed a sketch, they kept going wrong even though I use them for nearly every card, so I kept it fairly simple!

I'm also entering my card for the following challenges:

Just a quick note - there are still a couple of days left on the 'kids candy' that my 7yr old son has on his blog, if anyone would like to enter - link at the top of my sidebar, it'd be lovely to get some more entries :o)

A couple of quick ones

Yay, I managed to make a card for Inspirational Card Sketches this week, haven't managed it for ages! I'm not sure if I'm all that keen on my card, but at least I got one done lol. It's another different one for me, no cute image and no stamping, but I need a few more male cards for my box at hubby's work. Red cardstock from my stash, papers are a Sweet Shop Designs download, star cut with nesties and finished with a sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

And this is one I made a few days ago and forgot to put on my blog! I've followed the sketch at Sketch and Stash and I'm also entering the challenge at Dare U 2 Digi Stamp which is 'punches'. I've used mainly old stash - I've collected so many images and papers I'm really trying to use some of them up! I've had the papers for ages, they might be Papermania but I'm really not sure. The image is from Pink Petticoat, coloured with promarkers and with lots of glamour dust - again I've had it for ages and only used it a couple of times. Cardstock is a mix of Coredinations and Papermania, sentiment from Craftwork Cards, Papermania ribbon, button and bow. The MS doily lace punch is new... I was VERY BAD INDEED! I ordered the doily lace trim punch and was sent the ordinary doily border punch by mistake... they sent me the correct punch and I was going to send the other one back, I really was... but it wanted to stay with me, so I rang the shop and paid for it instead LOL! I'm terrible!

Very different one for me!

2nd post today, see earlier post for my Crafty Cardmakers DT card. I can't remember the last time I made a card without stamping! And it's not cute either! A friend asked me for a card in a hurry, but not a cute one and with no real 'theme', so I thought maybe stars would work. I had lots of fun making this, it all came together very easily, but now that it's done I think maybe it looks a bit 'sea-side' lol, so I hope it's ok!

I've used a large 8"x8" card blank. I've cut nestie stars from coredinations card, then embossed them in the big shot with the cuttlebug spots & dots folder, and sanded the embossing back. I think the papers are Papermania, I've had them for a while so I'm not sure. Lettering is cut with the sizzix 'night & day' alphabet. Added some MME buttons and fibres - love this stuff, but does it look a bit too much like sea weed on here? Eek, what do you think, is it ok?

I'm entering this one for the following challenges:

Crafty Cardmakers challenge 15 - tricolour

Time for a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and this fortnight it's all about colour theory - we'd like to see your tri-colour creations. There's a tutorial over at Crafty Cardmakers if you're not sure - I wasn't, I got very confused but somehow ended up choosing the right colours lol.

Mine is a split-complimentary colour scheme - pink, blue-green and yellow-green. I've used a super cute new free digi stamp from Karen's Doodles and a free paper download kit that you can get here by signing up for the newsletter. I've coloured the image with promarkers, made my flower with Woodware daisy punches (cut from one of the papers in the kit) and added a button centre and a sentiment from Craftwork Cards to finish.

Fairy Fun Fridays & remembering Harvey

Before I get on to my card, I just wanted to take a few minutes to remember my beautiful little boy Harvey, who was born sleeping on 19th Feb 3yrs ago. Mummy & Daddy hope you're having a little party somewhere sweetheart, love and miss you always.

I hope no one minds me putting the poem that was read at Harvey's funeral on here. I have no idea who wrote it, I found it on the internet and it said everything we wanted to say. We have it on a little handmade plaque at home.

O precious, tiny, sweet little one

You will always be to me

So perfect, pure and innocent

Just as you were meant to be

We dreamt of you and of your life

And all that it would be

We waited and longed for you to come

And join our family

We never had the chance to play

To laugh, to rock, to wiggle

We long to hold you, touch you now

And listen to you giggle

I'll always be your mother

He'll always be your dad

You'll always be our child

The child that we had

But now you're gone, but yet you're here

We'll sense you everywhere

You are our sorrow and our joy

There's love in every tear

Just know our love goes deep and strong

We'll forget you never

The child we had but never had

And yet we'll have forever

I'll move on to my card now. It's for this week's Fairy Fun Fridays challenge, which is 'brads & buttons' - I had a stupid moment and had my card nearly made before it dawned on me that I hadn't actually used any brads or buttons, so I quickly added the flowers with button & brad centres! The image was a freebie from Prairie Fairy - I think you can still get this one for free on the Prairie Fairy blog. I've coloured this little cutie in with promarkers & used an inverted corner punch on the corners. The papers are MME, cardstock is DCWV, sentiment is from Craftwork Cards.

A quick Bigsby card

Sorry I've not been around much this week - it's half term, hubby's got some time off work too and we're trying to get some organisation in the kids' room and in my craft room. We went to Ikea and spent too much money, and now we have lots of stuff to put together (neither of us are very good at that sort of thing lol), but hopefully at the end of it the boys will have more room to play and I'll actually be able to see the floor of the craft room again.

Pav took the kids to his mum's for a few hours today, so I made a couple of quick cards while they were gone, this is the first of them. I've used a fab freebie image from Karen's Doodles - I love Bigsby :o) I've coloured him with promarkers. I've cut the image out with nestie circles, then gone around the edge with a paper pricking tool and used a black fineliner to add some faux stitching... I'm still being a big wimp about using my sewing machine, I bought it months ago and am still yet to use it on a card! The stripy paper is from a local craft shop, red cardstock from my stash, buttons are MME.

Sweet sisters

This is my second post today - see my earlier post for my Cards For Men card and my candy winner. This card is for an order, for 2 little girls to give to their grandad - assuming I've not misunderstood, they call him Grumpy :o)

I've used this cute image from Digistamp Boutique, coloured with promarkers. The papers are Doodlebug, with DCWV cardstock. I've used an inverted corner punch on the image layers. The star is cut with nesties, large buttons from Bunny Zoe's, die cut border strips bought from a craft fair and coloured with promarkers. The sentiment is computer generated.

I'm entering my card for the following challenges:

Cards For Men 4th challenge & my candy winner!

Before I get onto my card, I need to announce my candy winner, which I should really have done yesterday but I've been feeling very sorry for myself with a bad cold and have been hibernating! Anyway my winner is Gocanucksgo Congrats and can you email me your address and 2 Prairie Fairy digistamp choices :o)

We're now having fortnightly challenges at Cards For Men and this time it's a colour theme - we'd like to see all things green! We're sponsored by Hope Jacare who kindly gave the DT our images to use this week. My card is not the best unfortunately, but I'll blame being poorly - when my hubby saw this card he said 'Does it ALL need to be so green?' lol, maybe I overdid the green slightly!

I made another little top fold card because I quite liked making my last one. I've coloured my little Rafe Robot image with promarkers and a touch of Sakura clear glitter pen. The papers are DCWV with bazzill bling cardstock, MME buttons and a Craftwork Cards sentiment that I've coloured with promarkers (more green lol!).

Candy Time!

* This candy is now closed*

I think it's time we had a little candy :o) I should have done something around my 10,000 hits mark, but time got away from me and now my hit counter has decided to reset itself (grrr!) so I have no idea how many hits I really have now. Oh well.

So here's what you could win:
  • Pack of big sparkly self-adhesive gems
  • Big pack (around 400-450) of plain white & cream flowers - great for shaping and colouring with promarkers/ copics
  • Cuddly Buddly stamp - 'chin up'
  • Plus 2 digistamps of your choice from the wonderful Prairie Fairy

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning, is put a pic of my candy in your side bar with a link back to my blog (or add a post on your blog about my candy, I don't mind which), and leave me a comment on this post. I'd love it if you also became a follower, but it's not a requirement :o) Open until Sunday 14th Feb at 12 noon, I will draw the winner later that day. Good luck!

Prairie Fairy blog hop & valentine's challenge!

Welcome....
to Prairie Fairy's 1st DT Blog Hop! If you came here from Sarabeth's blog then you are on the right track!
If you would like to start at the top of the hop, start here
Here's my creation for the hop and Fairy Fun Fridays valentine's challenge:

I've used the fab Lover Boy image, coloured with promarkers. I cut him out and mounted him on a pale lilac circle and mounted that onto a light brown blossom nestie. The papers are DCWV, with coredinations & papermania cardstock. The border was cut with the MS zig zag border punch and I layered a lilac spotty ribbon on top, and cut it slightly wider than the cardstock so that it would overlap the edges. The sentiment is a Pink Petticoat download printed onto the pale lilac cardstock. Added some card candy dots to finish.

This card seems tiny to me - I'm used to making 6x6, 5x7 and lately loads of 8x8, but this one is a teeny A2 sized that I've cut so that the fold is at the top, because I've never done one before and I fancied a change! I'm giving this one to my 7yr old son Morgan, who is very excited to be a junior Guest Designer this month at Fairy Fun Fridays. You can see his card here and he also has a special Kid's Candy on his blog if you know any children who'd like to win it, or who you'd like to win it for. A change from cute!

Now I must admit, I quite enjoy making male cards. But an order for a shooting themed card did throw me slightly! Luckily my lovely friend Sarah sent me some images to use, and hopefully my card will be ok!

I've coloured the image (don't know the make sorry) with promarkers, following the tutorial at Passion For Promarkers for sepia tones as I've never done this before - I thought it might suit the image. The gingham paper is a Funky Fairy download, corrugated card is from a local craft shop, brown cardstock is coredinations. Ribbon & button from my stash and computer generated sentiment (scriptina font).

Dex is having his afternoon nap, so really I should be up in the craft room getting another ordered card done. But I have the worst cold, I'm all shivery and sneezing constantly :o( So I'm going to curl up with a warm drink and Papercraft Inspirations mag that the postie just brought... can you believe he was wearing shorts and it's SNOWING! Hopefully I'll feel a bit better this evening so I can get some stuff done then.

Crafty Cardmakers challenge 14 - digital delights

Time for a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and this fortnight it's all about using digital elements - digi stamps, sentiments, papers, whatever you want to use. It's perfect for me because most of the images I use are now digital, not that I don't love stamping but there are just soooo many gorgeous images out there and you can get them instantly - I don't like waiting :o) We're also welcoming a brand new DT member at Crafty Cardmakers again this week, Elly has been cardmaking for 6 months and has made a fab job of her first challenge - hope you'll enjoy being on the team Elly!

It was my mum's birthday yesterday so this is my card for her. I've used a large 8 x 8 card blank. The digi stamp, which comes as part of a set of 6 images, is from Karen's Doodles, and I've coloured it with promarkers. I've had my eye on these images for ages and finally decided to treat myself this weekend after a very bad morning - popped into town for a quick shopping trip, got back to the car 5 mins late and I had a parking fine, £60 for being 5 mins late aagh!! Hubby was not best pleased.... Anyway, back to my card.... The papers are a mix of Imaginisce and Bo Bunny, with coredinations cardstock. Fabric flowers, bead caps, pearls and raffia lace from stash. The sentiment is computer generated.

The next pic is of the inside - I loved the idea of having the squirrel walking along on the front with his acorn and then having another image on the inside where the little mouse pops out! I'm sure I'll do a similar thing again with the other images in the set.

I'm also entering my card for the following challenges:
  • Card Positioning Systems - lovely sketch. I'm sorry, I've taken huge liberties with the sketch and I plan on making another that follows it more closely!
  • Lexi's Creations - spotted or striped
  • Pile It On - to the one you love (I've already made hubby's card but hopefully it's ok to enter this one, I do love my mum!)

Get Sketchy etc turtle

This card is for my mum to give to my cousin - for once my mum actually looked impressed lol, and asked for another similar one for someone else - she's not easily impressed!

The cute turtle image is from Digistamp Boutique, coloured with promarkers, and I used an inverted corner punch on the corners. The papers are Basic Grey cupcake. I've used plain white flowers (the same as the ones you can win in my blog candy) which I've coloured with promarkers and shaped, then used my Woodware leaf punch because I realised the other day I'd not used it for ages! The tiny butterflies were left over from using my MS butterfly border punch a couple of days ago - I thought I'd use up some of the punched out bits so as not to waste them. Tiny pearls, buttons and rose from stash, sentiment from Craftwork Cards.

Fairy Fun Fridays week 5 - sketch

Well it's nearly 2am and I've only just got this finished - I had one of those days where everything that could possibly go wrong did! So I'll come back tomorrow and edit this with my card details, I just want my bed now lol. I'll just say that this week it's a sketch over at Fairy Fun Fridays and you can find the images that I used here.

Edited - oops just remembered that I was going to edit my post with the details. Used a large 8 x 8 card blank, mouse images from Prairie Fairy coloured with promarkers, and decoupaged the dresses and then just the frills on the skirts. All the fiddly cutting out took ages but I think it was worth it, it looks quite effective on these images. Paper is Papermania, with yellow coredinations and pink cardstock from my stash. Used my new MS butterfly border punch and used some of the butterfly punch outs for the corners. Added some pink raffia lace, a Papermania bow and button and Green Tara flowers with a button centre. The sentiment is computer generated - this card is one that an online friend has ordered for her 6yr old daughter to give to her younger sister (whose favourite colour is yellow!).

Cute litte bee

Hmm I'm not totally sure about this card, and I don't know why! I finally decided I'd stared at it for quite long enough and it was time to finish. So hopefully it'll be ok!

I've used a large 8" x 8" card blank. The cute image is a digi stamp from Soft Pencil, coloured with promarkers with some sakura clear glitter pen that the pic hasn't picked up, and mounted on a Nellie Snellen circle die. The papers are Doodlebug, with DCWV cardstock. I've been playing with my new nestie blossom dies again, this time I've made a layered flower using the papers and cardstock, with a bright button & thread centre. The sentiment is Papermania, large button, heart pearls & raffia lace are all from Bunny Zoe's, flower buttons are MME.

Cards For Men 3rd challenge - sketch

It's time for a new challenge at Cards For Men and this time it's a fab sketch from Donna, with an optional theme of love/ valentines. The challenges are now running fortnightly instead of monthly and there are lots of great sponsors coming up :o) Hope you'll join in with us!

I decided to make a valentines card for my hubby. I've tried not to add too much detail because sometimes he says there's 'too much going on' on my cards - the cheek! It did turn out a teeny bit girly I think, but he won't mind. I've used a digistamp from Digistamp Boutique, coloured with promarkers - I love these little bears. The papers are MME be loved, with DCWV cardstock, and the scalloped circle is from the accessory sheet that came with the papers. I've used my new 'primitive hearts' sizzix die to cut some hearts from one of the papers - I was having a bad day and my first ones had the heart pattern upside down lol, didn't notice for ages! I've used the MS zigzag punch for the edges of the centre panel and finished off with a sentiment on the bottom of the easel - this was also taken from the matching accessory sheet.

There are lots of 'love' themed challenges around this week, so I'm also entering my card for the following:
